Sad HELLO EVERYONE, I HAVE NOT BEEN ON NEW SITE FOR OVER YEAR DUE TO NEARLY DYING, I HAVE BEEN TAKEN OF THE HUMIRA PEN DUE TO BRONCHIAL PNEUMONIA. I HAVE BEEN PUT ON RETUXAMAB, I WAS GIVEN 2 INFUSIONS LAST NOVEMBER ALSO I HAD ACLASTA 2 WEEKS LATER. I STARTED ITCHING BAD IT WAS LIKE RIPPING YOUR SKIN OFF. I PUT IT DOWN TO THE ACLASTA BUT HAVING HAD RETUXAMAB AGAIN IN JUNE/JULY THIS YEAR, THE ITCHING HAS COME BACK PLUS ECEMA ON MY CHEST, I CAN NOW ONLY ASSUME IT MUST BE THE RETUXAMAB. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I SEE DR TATE 6TH AUGUST SO I WILL HAVE A TALK TO HIM, I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN KNOWING IF I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ITCHBigGrin .

I HAVE BEEN EXPERIMENTING WITH DEVILS CLAW, AND I HAVE BRONCHECTASIS, SO I HAVE BEEN TAKING COLLODIAL SILVER, THE CHEST SPECIALIST TOLD ME MY LUNGS ARE CLEAR AS A BELL. ALSO I AM TAKING GOGI BERRIES, THEY ARE FULL OF ANTIOXIDENTS. NOW FOR PAIN IN THE JOINTS I HAVE BEEN USING EMU OIL BRILLIANT. I WAS ITCHING BEFORE I TOOK THESE.

BE GLad for some comments

regards

david

Hi David you sound like you've had a horrible time last year, i too am on Rituximab started the first infusion last November like you and just finished the second infusion last week, i have not experienced the itch , but have experienced a bad reaction to devils claw about 15 years ago when first getting dx , i had seen Jan De vries who prescribed it for me, soon after taking devil's claw i can only describe how i turned red from my head to my toes it was terrifying , i was told id had a reaction to it, hope you can find out what is causing this itch.

Sophie.

Hi David
I am on RTX and have never had the itching you have
just a question did you go on devil,s claw on your own ??
did you ask about taking these health tabs??
you really do need to ask before taking any health tabs as some of them just do not go with RA drugs

Hi David , Sorry to hear your itching is so bad, I've also had Rituximab but didn't experience any itching, but then we all react in different ways, really hope you get some answers and that things improve for you.
Best wishes

Hi David,

I had my first double dose of Rituximab in February and I came out in a rash over my face and chest for a few days afterwards. It was a little itchy but certainly nothing like you've described. It went away on its own and I've had nothing like it again since.

I hope you manage to get to the bottom of it soon.

hi David,

no experience with devils claw etc but lots of drugs going very wrong.

I would look up the words "serum sickness" alongside retuximab myself. i know that allergic reactions to RTX are not uncommon but can be pretty mild and disappear right through to terrible sores and feeling dreadful.

I would lay off the other "meds" until you see the rheumatology nurse/ dr for an urgent appt- you might have to go through the GP for this to happen.

PS re the itch- that is why they give piriton when giving the RTX- to surpress reactions like this, I would take some piriton- also need to have liver enzymes checked at the GPs.

Hi David

Do you take any other medication apart from drugs for RA? I've been taking statins for high cholesterol and one of the side effects of that is severe itching. I had to come off it for a while, and the itching went away.
